Philadelphia Attorneys Guide:
What To Do When There's A Workplace
Accident
A loud bang. A sudden, violent accident. Stunned co-workers looking
at a motionless body. What should you do to aid the injured person?
• Keep calm
• Get first aid
• Get medical attention for any injured person
Now is also the time to help your injured
co-worker in another important way.
Preserve evidence and get witnesses’ names and addresses. Doing this helps
assemble what the injured person needs to make an important third-party claim
for the disability, excruciating pain and suffering, loss of future earnings
and physical and emotional problems caused by the accident. You can help your
injured friend - and help prevent future accidents - if you save the equipment
and material that caused the injury or illness. Save such things as:
• A broken bolt
• An electric saw that malfunctioned
• Unguarded equipment
• A piece of steel or other material that failed
• Material whose dust or vapors caused illness
• A broken hard hat
• A broken safety line
• A defective gauge, valve, switch
• A broken tool
