What To Do When Someone Is Injured In A Vehicle Accident in Pennsylvania

Basically, you want to move to a nearby safe place, pre-vent causing another accident, get medical attention,
notify the police, exchange certain information, and call
your attorney. Specifically:

Stop
Stop your vehicle at or near the accident scene. If you are blocking traffic, move your vehicle out of the way if possible.

Prevent Further Accidents
Place flares, signals, reflectors or flags to draw attention to the accident scene.

Get medical Attention
Immediately seek medical attention for any injured person. If you are injured, mention all of your injuries.

Call The Police
Call the police if anyone is hurt, or dies or if any vehicle is so badly damaged that it must be towed. Tell the police of your injuries and let them know if anyone needs to be taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Exchange Needed information
Get the license plate numbers of all vehicles involved in
the accident.

Get the following information from any driver involved in
the accident:
   • Name and address
   • Telephone number
   • Driver's license number
   • Vehicle registration information
   • Insurance company name and policy number or      information about who is financially responsible
   • Give this same information about you to any other
     driver

This is not all the law on these issues. Space limitations prevent discussion of many legal questions, and variations in the facts of your situation may bring about a different result.
